Hey hey! It’s Krissi Thomas with Tiny Tips!
Today we’re talking about PRACTICE.
I've mentioned this before, and will probably always mention this because it's such a huge part of what I'm teaching.
We practice and train a lot in our lives.
We practice and train our bodies,
We practice and train our craft,
but
do we take the time to train our brains?
These are the three things in life that you can train and or practice at in life.
This is a concept that from Dr. Mike Gervais, a sports psychologist for high performers, top elite athletes, and Olympic athletes.
When you stop and think about practicing anything, you tend to go to the things that you love, or that you know you’ll love the outcome. So if you love working out, wellness, taking care of your body, you're training your body all the way from your workouts, the food you eat, and the recovery you do.
If you love what you do for a living, or even your hobby, you're likely always practicing so that you can get better. You learn more about your craft or hobby, try new techniques and are consistent in doing so. It’s what makes you better.
But the practice I'm talking about here is how often - are you training your mind? Do you spend the same amount of time practicing how to train your mind as you do on the other 2?
I don't know how many of us actually take the time to truly train and practice what we need to tell ourselves to get to the outcomes that we want, to get to the desires we want. So, in this tiny tip, it's more about a reminder of practicing training your mind.
And BTW, practicing doesn't make perfect. Practicing creates mastery, because mastery is when you can do something so well, it's second nature. And when something is second nature, you can easily train that to somebody else. You can help them learn how to practice.
And that is my goal here, to teach you the practice of training your brain. Because when you do, everything else falls into place from that, and your mind gets better and better just like your craft and body does.
You learn more. You open up parts of the brain you didn't even know were available to you. Because when you’re constantly seeking the solution side of things, and not the bad or the negative outcomes, you are training your brain to believe that. You're not giving yourself an out. You are not using the bad C word I talk about. You're telling yourself that you can, and that you will.
And that your beautiful brain will figure out how to get through challenges in this life. Because we will always have them. Challenges are part of living. It's part of getting better. It's part of learning. Practice creates mastery. Nobody's looking for perfection. That's ridiculous. There is no such thing as perfection. There is only moving forward, one tiny step at a time, by doing things consistently, and doing the things that serve the biggest purpose in your life.
When you find yourself thinking negatively about anything in life, reframe that to the positive and see where it might take you. See what doors might open for you. See what opportunities, all of a sudden, present themselves, because you have allowed your brain to be open to the idea that things actually are going work out.
That's what being optimistic is about. You know things are going to work out, no matter what. So, keep practicing. Keep training that brain to believe in the outcomes you want!
And remember YOU CAN. God bless y'all.
